Few days before I got an opportunity to witness a various policy-making meeting with Government officials of Nepal. Bijay Sapkota, very influencing youth and Student leader of Australia, was in Nepal for his unofficial visit to Nepal.
During his visit, He had a very fruitful meeting with the government bureaucrats and ministers.
He basically had three topics to talk about:
1. Provision of Pre-Departure Test to aspiring students of abroad study before issuing NOC (No Objection Certificate) so that the blame for educational agents will be minimized as they are considered to be the false information providers like; life is easy and you can easily payback your college fee and have sophisticated student life and many more.
2. Establishment of the world-class educational institution in Nepal. He stated that if we provide international standard education here in Nepal, no students will go to foreign countries for pursuing education. So, if we have world-class skill-oriented education in Nepal, students will be independent and can practice their entrepreneurship skills. He also gave an idea of TAFE Education in Nepal.
3. Bilateral Trade between Nepal and Australia: Nepal is among the third largest market for students in Australia (https://www.austrade.gov.au/News/Economic-analysis/nepal-mongolia-and-cambodia-lead-growth-in-student-visa-grants-january-2018). This report shows that we have been helping Australian Economy growth to around 2 billion Australian Dollars per annum. And in return, there has been no effort from the government side for the solid FDI from Australia. This was also a very important topic during his meeting with stakeholders of the Nepal Government.
On his visit, I got to witness all these high level of Meeting and I personally wish all the very best for his endeavor.
